Pokot Nomads Turn to Farming


Pokot tribe is predominantly herders. However, increased cattle rustling in recent years, and harsh environmental realities have seen animals in their possession drastically dwindle. In turn, the communities are trying something altogether new and different: crop growing (farming).



And in this video below, Rachel Finsaas, a Student from the University   of Minnesota, joins the locals in getting the ground ready to plant sorghum. With the aid simple tools and  implements, the villages tenaciously turnover grazing land to farmlands.
